Our Director wins business pitch competition

González will go on to pitch her business in the YLAI finals in Washington, D.C.
Stacy Kinion, program coordinator with the Northern Nevada International Center, announces the winners of the U.S. Department of State’s Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI) pitch competition following the Nov. 4 competition at the Innevation Center Powered by Switch. The 14 entrepreneurs came on four-week fellowships from numerous Central and South American countries to learn from successful American businessmen and women in their fields. Eighteen communities nationwide hosted similar programs.
The winners of the Reno competition were:
3rd Place, Ystallonne Alves, with AGROMARRA In Brazil, which is providing a digital platform for ranchers in northeastern Brazil to better track and care for their livestock.
Tied for 2nd Place, Vicente Mejia, of Clearpath Coffee in Columbia, which is empowering coffee farmers to have the knowledge to be coffee professional in control of their own market; and Leandro Luque, with at4you Assistive Technologies for You in Brazil, which provides technologies for the sight impaired to understand what others see on graphics during meetings, etc.
The 1st place winner is Cristina González with ConEmpathy in Colombia, which provides translation services. Her company’s name stands for Connection & Empathy.
González will go on to pitch her business in the YLAI finals in Washington, D.C.
